Ruth Cobb joined the staff at St Thomas’ as our Interim Organist/Choirmaster in November 2023. Ruth comes to us with a variety of significant church music experience that will be instrumental in not only carrying our music program healthily and successfully through this interim time, but also in helping attract the right permanent candidate for the position. She holds a Bachelors of Music from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, and a Masters of Music from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. In addition to playing and conducting in various parishes, she has most recently retired from being the Director of Admissions and Alumni Relations at the St. Thomas Choir School in New York, NY. She believes strongly in supporting congregational singing as well as growing the strength of our chancel choir and has already reached out to various members of our wider community about opportunities to sing. Ruth and her husband David (a retired Episcopal priest) live in Sarasota, FL. They have two children and five grandchildren in Arlington, VA and Scottsdale, AZ.
