Special Services

St. Thomas offers extra-special worship offerings in addition to a full regular schedule of traditional Episcopal services. We have had services celebrating the music of Johnny Cash, Dave Matthews and various Jazz artists. We've celebrated with guest musicians and sunset service along Coffee Pot Bayou. Our lastest unique service combined the Ash Wednesday Service and Taize-style worship.

Special worship services at St. Thomas communicate to our members and the greater community that God can be discovered and embraced in myriad ways. We hope to see you at the next celebration!

Taize Clip Art

Taize (pronounced Teh-ZAY) worship is contemplative worship involving sung prayers, meditations, periods of silence, scriptural readings and icons.  Taize is a little village in the south of Burgundy, France.  Over 60 years ago, out of the ashes of World War II, Brother Roger founded a community devoted to prayer and living a life of reconciliation within the church and the human family.  The Community is made up of brothers committed to material and spirtual sharing, celibacy, and a great simplicity of life.  The name Taize, therefore, evokes peace, reconciliation and communion of the Church.
